Port Fairy.
As we travelled along the The Great Ocean Road at the end is a small seaside town of Port Fairy.
Port Fairy is a fishing town and has a lovely walk around the island. We were here last time but did the long walk this time we did the shorter one. They have designated place for the Sherewater birds that numbers are dropping but they are encouraging them to breed so there are areas one is not allowed to walk.
We walked out along the path that takes us out to the lighthouse and as our path takes us through scrub we are on the watch out in case we encounter any snakes. If you know me I would have had a heart attack if I came up against them. Australia is a place of many posinous reptiles and spiders.
We saw no snakes I was relieved.
But we did come across this little lady ( Wallaby ) in the bush, if you pull it up you can see the Joey in the pouch. He kept popping out to pull in vegetation to eat but because they were in shaded area it was hard to get a good picture. She was about 10 ft away from us and busy eating.
We continued our walk,at the end was the beach and Port Fairy Lighthouse.
Today we left Port Fairy and headed out to Hamilton, yes that is right Australia has one too. It seems funny as our Hamilton is just a few miles from where we live!
We travelled to Hamilton to visit with our niece Gill and Mick her husband and family.
So later I will post a few sites we saw while with them.
Have a great day everyone. And for those that are facing the cold of winter, here in Austraila the temperature was 42C but we were travelling on a train to Sydney so glad it was air conditioned, but that is a bit later in our travels to write about.
Your pictures and descriptions are making me more determined to one day drive around Australia!! I would love to take a year and explore that continent!!
